The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing supports the recommendation by the Joint Committee on Infant Hearing, published in 2007 by the American Academy of Pediatrics, which states that “families should be made aware of all communication options and available hearing technologies in an unbiased manner.” A resource and advocate for those parents and individuals who choose to pursue spoken language, AG Bell supports language development through evidence-based practices focusing on the use of audition and appropriate technologies. The Echo Center at Echo Horizon school
The Echo Center is a certified nonpublic school (NPS) within Echo Horizon School. It’s not a separate place, but rather a program that supports students who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) in the mastery of listening and spoken language. Fifteen percent of Echo Horizon’s students are DHH and use hearing technology. Through the Echo Center program, they learn alongside their hearing peers, who make up 85 percent of the school.
